Q1 Can I have a mix of land-based and sea-based elements?

That’s our core business! We tailor every workshop to your needs, timescales and budget and incorporate elements of land and sea-based elements to help you get the most out of your time.

The mix works extremely well – as all our customer feedback shows. “Well balanced, with learning points from boats fitting well into overall purpose of event”.

Q2 Can I just opt for just land-based workshops?

Of course. We will work with you to tailor the event to match your needs. We feel sure you’ll want to put what you have learnt into effect, and our sea-based exercises are perfect for this. But if this doesn’t fit your organisation, style or needs, we can work with you to find alternatives.

Q3 Is the sea-based element a jolly or does it really complement the real workshop?

We recognise the value of having fun but also know that taking executives out of the business can be expensive. We think we provide a balance of fun learning but always ensure that each element is also value for money and has a real purpose.

As our clients tell us: “Don’t be put-off, scared or intimidated by the sailing, it’s a great experience; takes you out of your comfort zone into the realms where nothing but effective teamwork allied with intelligent thinking is combined with having fun while building better relationships”.

Q4 What if some members of my team are sea-sick?

We recognise that some people can be sea-sick but we have found that the best remedy is to keep busy and engaged so that any sickness is forgotten. Clients have found that, despite being worried about sea-sickness, there is so much to do and focus on, it takes minds off it.

However, we do recognise that some people are not good sailors and encourage them to take over-the-counter remedies if they are worried. We also have a supply of ginger biscuits on board – nature’s natural remedy for anyone feeling unwell.

Q5 What if some members of my team are afraid of water?

We have fully trained crew and every trip starts with a safety briefing. We will do our best to put minds at rest and assure safety at all times.

Perhaps one of our clients puts it best: “As a non-sailor and non-swimmer, I felt very apprehensive prior to activity but was put at ease and thoroughly enjoyed the experience”.

If, however, someone still feels uneasy about the experience, we can offer alternatives that do not diminish their participation in the exercise.

Q6 What if the weather is terrible?

We will perform a rain-dance! Actually we have held sea-based workshops in the rain and, even to our surprise, our clients have loved it. We think it is because our clients are so busy concentrating on their tasks and having fun that they forget the weather. We also provide essential wet-weather gear to ensure everyone stays dry and warm.

But if the elements do get the better of us, and you decide you would rather stay in the warm, we have alternative exercises we can do.

Q7 What safety precautions do you take?

Safety is paramount to us. We only use fully-qualified skippers to sail our boats, and skippers who are trained and used to working with novices. All exercises begin with a safety demonstration and life-jackets are provided.

In addition, most JCPii staff are also fully-trained yachtsmen. The sailing element of the day can also be a great learning and introduction to sailing for those who have never done it before, in a safe and informal environment.

“Great skippers who trusted us and helped to put everyone at ease”.

Q8 How does the added dimension of the yachts impact the cost?

Naturally there is a cost element to bringing boats into the mix, but it’s not as much as you think. In fact, our own analysis shows that, when all the elements are put together, our rates compare very favourably to the cost of holding a similar event in a hotel.

Firstly, we have access to Yacht Clubs which offer excellent conference and accommodation rates, often lower than local hotels. We can also utilise the boats as much as you want (for example delegates are welcome to sleep on-board for an authentic experience!) further reducing the cost.

In fact, we work with you and your budget. And, together with the fact that we can guarantee speedy results without the need for days out of the office and expensive hotels, we feel hopeful you’ll be satisfied.
